Chopped Liver – See How They Run…

Egg & Spoon.

3-Legged Race.

High Jump.

Long Jump.

Fall Over.

Knee-Grazing.

Joy.

Sadness.

Laughter.

Crying.

All the ingredients of School Sports Day. In my case, my boy’s 1st ever School Sports Day. I’d like to say what a fantastic feeling of elation, pride and joy I felt watching him go through the motions.

boing... boing...

I’d like to say it – but I would be lying. ‘Cos I missed it. I had meetings today. I could’ve cancelled/postponed/rearranged them but y’know the thing is – I haven’t done much productive work this year as I my mindset wasn’t right.

It’s right now, though. I feel good about myself right now. About my work. About providing for my wife and child properly again. The phone may ring tonight – and so be it. But it might be weeks. Or months. And I’m not going to just sit around and wait for it.

I’m going for it. I’m sorry Weedy for missing your big day. You loved it. You were brilliant. You are proud of the medal around your neck. And I am deeply proud of you. But you understand what I do and you accept it – and for that I’m grateful.
